Race Catch-Up

Oh it’s been busy busy busy, so it’s time to get back to writing reports and keeping you guys up to date with things. I will do a quick summary from where I left it after the first National; going in depth will make the post long!

If you follow my socials, you will be up to date anyways.

Newcastleton

So after round one we travelled north back to the awesome venue of Newcastleton, having raced here last year I was really looking forward to it again. The course was a little different this year due to the damage caused by storm Eunice, but the builders made excellent use of what they had. I raced hard and managed to get 3rd, first time on the podium this year so I was supper happy with that.

Crank-It Lee Quarry

Once the dust settled on Newcastleton I headed to race a Crank-It event at Lee Quarry, never been here before so fancied a change and racing can be the best training. The course was a mega climbing effort, really long climbs but had some fun stuff thrown in. We set off with the under 16 girls, I tried to stay with them for as long as possible, it was tough and the wind was a little scary round the back of the hills but I managed to take the win in the under 14, so super happy to get my first win of 2022.

Fife

A couple of weeks past and it was time to head back up to the land of the haggis, this time it was a new venue in Fife just north of Edinburgh, it was long trip. The course was ok, not really a fan of it, but we all face the same so it’s best to just get your head down and attack. I got a good start and pushed with the leaders for the first two laps, then bang, hit a wall. We had pulled a pretty good lead over forth but near the finish I got passed, I tried to sprint for the line but my legs just would not work, fourth at the finish, not terrible at national level but I wasn’t happy.
