The cycle show and racing CX @ Redditch

What a weekend! So busy but in a great way, Saturday I attended the cycle show at the NEC, I had a great day looking at all the new bikes, kit and everything else that was put on display, I had a play on the DMR pump track and I had a play on the hope academy skills course. During the show I chatted to several companies about my plans for 2020 and handed out a flyer to each one showing my results and achievements, I’m hopeful this will lead to some sponsorship/support to help my achieve my dreams, the flyer appeared to go down well and as a result Big Bobble Hats and Nudo socks allowed me to pick anything from their stores so really happy about that, do me a favour and go and visit their and my current sponsor websites (and maybe order something, mention me as it really helps me out). I also met Harry Main and I also bumped into so some friends so all was good.

Today (Sunday 15th Sept) I raced round 2 of the WMCCL (West Midlands Cyclocross League) at Abbey Sports and Fitness Stadium Redditch, again like round 1 we had awesome weather, the course looked fantastic and I was really eager to get out and practice. The course open flag was raised and I headed out on track, the track was technical with off camber straights and turns, it was fast and it had some short punchy climbs mixed in, you could say it had a bit of everything, it was really fun to ride and I was looking forward to the race.

I lined up in the waiting zone and due to gridding I was called up first based on my round 1 result, I took the inside grid and awaited the whistle. The whistle sounded and I pushed hard out the start, I pushed really hard and slotted into 2nd place, I pushed but made a silly mistake, this dropped me off the lead group, I got my head down for the rest of the race pushing as hard as I could but today I wasn’t the best. At the finish line I finished in 2nd, 1st place had pulled a good lead on me, it’s all experience and I have to reminding myself its only my 6th cyclocross race and every race I learn more about the racing and tactics of cyclocross, I was pleased with my result and the result gives me motivation to work hard on my weak points.

As always, thanks for reading, I have a couple of weeks off from racing now but I will be working hard.
